Our Story!! Custom Greek Paddles was founded in October of
2005 in Nashville, TN. We wanted to buy a paddle for someone who had
just crossed, but everywhere we looked, we saw the same ole
merchandise. My wife said to me, "Wouldn't it be nice if there was
somewhere we could order a paddle customized how we wanted it." And I
answered her, YES!!! From that conversation, Custom Greek Paddles was born.
FOUNDER and CEO: Born and raised in Mississippi, my father has
to get the credit for my interest in woodworking. As a kid, I helped
him out by holding the boards and keeping track of his hammer. I think
he was trying to keep me out of his way more than anything. During the
summer months while he was at work, I would play with the tools and
build my own little projects. I probably did more harm then good, but
you know what they say, practice makes perfect. I eventually grew up
and attended Jackson State University. I obtained my BS in Mathematics
with a minor in Pre-Engineering in May of 1999. I left JSU and
enrolled as an undergrad again at the University of Memphis, Memphis
TN. There I pledge the greatest Fraternity,
Omega Psi Phi at the greatest
chapter The Magnificent Xi Zeta Chapter,
on the greatest line SPRING DOUBLE O!!!! ;
I also graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Currently I'm working on obtaining my M.B.A.
Oh, bye the way I have my own little hammer keeper now!!!!!
Business Manager: Born and raised in Arkansas, I was always
the one child of four that keep track of how much, how many, when, and
where money should go. By the age of 10, I was balancing my mother's
checkbook. I also had a knack for organizing things and making sure
that things were followed through on. I had to grow-up fast, when at
the age of 10, my older sister passed away and I then became my younger
sister's keeper. I was very dedicated to being the best that I could be
in-order to make my mother proud, as well as, my father who also passed away while I
was very young. He always said, "There are no dumb Minors (my maiden
name)." I had to live up to that legacy. I became the Valedictorian of
my graduating High School class. I went on to the become a bonafied
Razorback at the University of AR - Fayetteville. It was here that I pledged
at the Kaptivating Kappa Iota Chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in Spring
1993. I received a BS in Education, MS in Health Care Administration,
and an MBA. I then went on to receive my Ph.D in Business
Administration in Marketing from the University of Memphis. It was here
that I met Mr. Cooley and convinced him that with me on his team, we
would be invincible as a family and a business entity. He saw it my way, of
course!!! Together, we have a wonderful son, Zachary (i.e. future
businessman).
I am currently an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Texas Southern
University.
